Artificial Intelligence:

Artificial intelligence by definition is any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals. This is done through machine learning where the machine or computer learns, like a human, to make the best decision available to it. The technology is pretty spectacular in that it replaces the need for humans and can even out perform humans because machines do not get tired and can continuously work when humans cannot. From writing emails and the software finishing sentences for you, taking in large amounts of data and formulating them as a human would to readable data sets, self-driving cars capable of making and executing driving decisions as a human would, AI has been evolving for many different uses and we are just now seeing the potentially explosive future for AI applications.


Robotics by definition is the design of intelligent machines that can help and assist humans in their day-to-day lives and keep everyone safe. Robotics have many potential uses, though mainly used in factories and manufacturing right now. Self-driving cars can be considered robots because they fit the definition exactly. Much experimentation and research has been done for personal robots like the Honda ASIMO and multi-application robots like the MIT animal-like robots. The use of these robots can forego the need to use humans for simple or dangerous tasks keeping people safe. Applying robotics to a Utopian Smart City makes way for the possibility of streamlining life in general and taking simple repetitive tasks out of the hands of humans.


Food is a complex topic and the supply chains that are behind them are even more complex. Getting fresh product in the hands and homes of every community takes a lot of resources and human interaction to be sure the chain is operating smoothly. Implementing the use of AI and robotics can help alleviate the human resource need in the supply chains and ensure the supply chain operates without interruption. AI can learn demand levels and actively predict increases or decreases in demand that may affect the production needs. As we see today with the state of stores in this pandemic, supply chains have been hit hard with the dramatic increase in buying, but with the help of AI the impact could have been softened with forecasting. This real time and forecasting of need for food can alleviate the worry of food shortages. After all, a Utopian world should be perfect therefore worry should be non-existent with proper systems in place.


AI and robotics can help ensure community safety by identifying and determining potential threats. Through the use of facial recognition and other advanced technologies unwanted people or items can be identified and the proper response personnel notified. Though many fear this kind of technology, the benefits had it been implemented in prior tragedies that the U.S. has faced in the recent decades may have been avoidable, especially since the only people who should be worried about the implementation of this kind of technology is the ones who are doing something wrong. Preventing worry of community safety is important in this Utopian society.


Jobs in which the work is repetitive day in and day out are not typically enjoyed by those who perform them. Robotics being implemented in production and manufacturing assisted with the use of artificial intelligence to determine demand can alleviate the need for this these kinds of jobs, allowing and urging people to pursue their own goals. Not only will these jobs no longer be needed but the worry behind supply and demand can be minimized because the machines are the ones ‘worried’ about them. Though some may not agree that people do not like these jobs, human interaction in these types of facilities will always be needed so there will be a need, though much smaller, for those who want to work there.

Artificial intelligence and robotics are the way of the future, and have been for quite some time. The development of robotics in use of manufacturing has been readily developed for many years, and the use of artificial intelligence has seen its uses skyrocket recently as the world moves to streamline all tasks.

A Smart Utopian City is the future. With the implementation of the core Utopian aspects combined with technology like artificial intelligence and robotics the possibilities to create a Utopian Society are endless.
